Sean Mooney
Sean joined Fairmont’s D.C. office as an Analyst in 2026. Prior to Fairmont, Sean worked in corporate development and financial planning at Cydecor. In that role, he conducted financial diligence and integration in the acquisition of a DoD satellite provider. He also managed the firm’s direct and indirect expenses on a continuous basis, including through annual budgeting. Before that, Sean interned with the Niskanen Center, providing economic research in Google v. Oracle and U.S. v. Arthrex as well as authoring opinion pieces on intellectual property policy. Prior to joining Niskanen, Sean interned with FINNEA Group, performing sell-side advisory in the middle-market industrials sector.
Sean graduated from Wake Forest University with majors in Economics and in International Affairs. He was also a graduate of the University of Chicago’s Data and Policy program, where he honed geospatial statistics for governmental contexts. His spatial machine learning study led him to become a data science advisor to the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Geological Survey. He holds intellectual property in photonic neural network hardware.
